🧠 Quitting is good for your mind too — though it wobbles at first
The wobble early in quitting isn't necessarily a sign of failure. It may not be deterioration but the start of an adjustment.
After eleven at night, the room feels slightly larger.
Work is done. You've had your bath. Nothing important is arriving on your phone. All that's left is sleep, and yet you can't settle. Something feels missing, so you look at the desk. No ashtray. No lighter. What was there yesterday isn't there today.
The first night of quitting doesn't feel like becoming healthy.
If anything, the mind is left slightly bare.
Normally you'd smoke one here. Open the window a crack, look at the dark outside, breathe out. It didn't solve anything. Still, watching the smoke leave felt like something had gone out with it.
