For several days after that, Mr. N was in a good mood.
Without smoking a cigarette, he could feel like he was smoking one. This, he thought, was an invention. On the health-checkup questionnaire he could write "non-smoker" with a clear conscience. His wife didn't complain. At the office, he seemed to leave his desk less often.
In reality, he was using Future Cigarettes without leaving his desk.
Behind his monitor, before a meeting, after sending off a document — unseen by anyone, making no sound, leaving no smell.
It was convenient.
